740 Barbell was birthed in Jonah Hensley’s 2 stall garage in 2022. In 2023 a #38 total overall in the world came out of this garage as well as a #11 in the world total at the 275 class at 2,232 lbs. Since moving to the new location, Seven Forty has obtained a females state and national bench press record. Also a #1 world ranked junior 242 class total at 1,813 lbs.
Seven Forty Barbell is a members only club. We encourage and allow everyone to come in and try out the gym to see if its the right fit for you. Keep in mind this is an old school gym with a hardcore atmosphere. We are here to lift weights and get better. If you’re not here to do that, then this is not the place for you.

Seven Forty Barbell is owned and operated by Daveon McGary and Jonah Hensley. Considered to be one of central Ohio’s most innovative and successful strength training facilities. It is known for using the conjugate method, a strength training system that emphasizes the rotation of exercises and variations to avoid overuse injuries and continually challenge the athlete.
Our gym has produced world-class powerlifters, coaches, and athletes. Seven Forty Barbell has state, and national record holders as well as top 10 world ranked powerlifters. We are well-known for our firm commitment to scientific research, cited material references, and applying physics, biomechanics, and physiology principles to strength training.
